Bar and Judicial Endorsements

Every year, Washington Council of Lawyers endorses candidates for D.C. Bar elective office who we believe will prioritize pro bono and public-interest work when serving the D.C.Bar.

We base our endorsements on the candidates' resumes and answers to a questionnaire, prepared by our D.C. Bar Affairs Committee, which asks candidates about their personal pro bono record, commitment to pro bono and public-interest law issues, and priorities as an officer of the D.C. Bar. Candidates who do not return the questionnaire are not eligible for consideration. For the office of President, we also hold a question-and-answer session with the candidates prior to endorsing.

If you have questions, please contact either Susan Hoffman at or Barbara Kagan at .

Washington Council of Lawyers encourages attorneys with a strong public interest backgrounds to consider a career as a judge, and we support candidates for judicial positions who have prioritized pro bono and public-interest work in their careers.
